Annapurna Circuit Part II

The second part of my trek will bring you till the pass. Up to a hight of 5000+ meters and with some awesome views of one of the roof tops of the world.

These days where extreme, it was snowing in the evening and pretty cold all the night. Walking up to the pass was hard and exhausting. I was walking with some of the people I met, but mostly with Chris a Candian. The guy was bit younger then me and walked or as most of the trekkers say run up the mountain. I couldn't keep up and had to slow down after a while. But it helped keeping walking and not to sit down and take a rest aka SMOKE. On de trek from Letdar to High Camp I was out of energy. After 7 days my body was becoming tired and the altitude made it even harder. Light headache and dizzy walking up. At one point there was the English/Spanish couple walking in front of me when we heard hard pounds on the mountain side. Soon we needed to duck the rocks that where coming down hard. While hiding one of the rocks mist the head of the Spanish guy just a few centimeters. I was floored to the ground and didn't want to move. It scared the shit out of me... We where nearly at the lunch stop and I didn't know if I should move further up. After some lunch and snacks it seemed ok. Although some of the others trekkers advised me otherwise... I should have listened. The last bit to High Camp took everything out of me. Chris helped me with my bag for the last 50 meters. In the night after diner (round 5 o'clock) I started to feel sick, dizzy, headache... definitely AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)... Took some pills and went to bed, in the hope I would feel better the next morning for the clime up.

After a ruff night I felt a whole lot better the next morning and the last bit of the clime was quite easy. Beautiful views loads of people but absolutely worth it. The pass was there sooner then I expected so that was nice. Smoke a cigaret at the top (I hoped that it would be my last one for a while, but I didn't manage) cheered with everybody, took some pictures and went down.

And down it went, on and on and on and on and on and on... etc. 1600m of moon landscape, switch-back after switch-back. BORING! Until Muktinah. There somehow all the people I met (except chris) on the trek where in the same hotel. We drank a few nice beers, played cards and eat "pizza".

Day 7 Manang to Letdar 100km, 4200m - Nice walk, shit hotel without fire, nice hotel with fire

Day 8 Letdar to High Camp 107km, 4850m Really hard walk, landslide (stones), tired, AMS

Day 9 High Camp to Thorung Pass (the highest point) to Muktinah (a long way down, 1600m) 122km, 5416m, 3800m
